Dear Fellow Steward;
God has blessed us by giving us with all that we have. We need to recognize that all that we are is His gift to us. We need to celebrate our blessings and share them abundantly. When giving your Time and Talent, we should prayerfully consider the blessing, the unique gifts we have been given and plan to give back and share with our Church. Perhaps by joining a committee, assisting in a ministry or participating on a project (some may be short term or seasonal, some may be ongoing). Please take time to prayerfully think about the ministries and areas where you interested in sharing your Time and Talent.
Some have asked if Stewardship is more then weekly giving? It is! Assisting your parish financially is important, however Stewardship is more. We need to embrace the spirituality of Stewardship. God has blessed us we all that we have and all that we are. In our gratitude to God, we should prayerfully consider returning a portion of what we have received. We should celebrate our blessings and share abundantly in order to provide for the sacramental, educational, ministerial and administrative needs of our Saint Nicholas Parish by the giving of our Time, Talents and Treasures.
As Stewards, we are called to share our blessings, by returning a portion of what we have. Some of us have been blessed with more time, more talents or more material resources. Therefore we have more to share. There are others who have less time, less skills, or are struggling to meet their financial obligations. They may or may not have healthcare, they may or may not be employeed, they may be concerned about their children’s education, or the health of a loved one. Even though some may have less, we can all share or blessings giving in proportion to what has been given to us, based on the needs of our family and the resources (your Time, Talents and/or Treasures) we have available.
Always remember, all gifts given in gratitude are welcomed by God.
No matter how difficult the economy may be, or whether our parish is over budget or under budget, we should consider giving because it is the right thing to do.
Sometimes we ask, “What about them?” We should not be concerned with what other give or don’t give. We should ask ourselves, “Am I giving enough?” “What more can I personally do for my Church?”
So what is Stewardship? It is everything we do after we say, “We believe...”
Let us embrace Stewardship and give a portion of our Time, Talents and Treasures to God and His Church. Let us embrace Stewardship as a way of life.
"For everything is from You and we only give You what we have received from You." 1 Chronicles 29:14
Sincerely, Nick Sialmas
