A Blessed Happy Healthy New Year

When you were baptized in the Jordan, O Lord, the worship of the Trinity was Made manifest.  The voice of the father bore witness to you, calling you his beloved Son, and the Spirit in the form of a dove confirmed His word as sure and steadfast.  O Christ our God who has appeared and enlightened the world, glory to you.

GUIDELINES FOR RESPECTFUL WORSHIP

Whenever we enter the church we should remember that we are in the house of God. Reverence and respect are required, partly because we are in God’s House and partly because we do not want to disturb those who are praying.  This means that conversation should be kept to a minimum, either in the Narthex (the back of the Church) or in any other part of the Church.

There are also several parts of the service when movement should be limited.
These parts are as follows:

  1. The procession of the priest and the altar boys with the Gospel
  2. The reading of the Gospel
  3. The Great Entrance when the gifts are transferred to the altar in procession
  4. The recitation of the Creed
  5. When the priest(s) is offering the prayers “Take, eat…Take drink…”
  6. The sermon
  7. When the priest is offering a blessing
  8. Special services like memorials and other prayer services
